Water Research
Passage A: The National Hydrology Research Centre, located at Riverbank Road 12, Bern, was established in 1998. A 2022 report showed that annual freshwater availability declined from 3,200 cubic metres per person in 2000 to 2,450 cubic metres in 2020. The study covered six river basins and analysed climate data from 45 monitoring stations.
Passage B: Founded in 2005, the Urban Energy Efficiency Office operates from Green Plaza 7, Milan. In 2021, it reported that household electricity consumption fell by 18% after smart meters were installed between 2016 and 2019.
Passage C: The Global Crop Yield Observatory in Buenos Aires began operations in 2010. Data released in 2023 indicated soybean yields increased to 3.1 tonnes per hectare following fertiliser optimisation trials.
